“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” ~Melody Beattie
Gratitude is one of those words that everyone agrees with — of course we should be grateful. But, it ends there, nothing more to really discuss about it, now hurry up we’re running late! Gratitude is a superpower. When you begin to see and acknowledge your world through the eyes of gratitude magic happens, trust me!
What does it really mean to you to look at your life through a lens of gratitude?
Are there everyday blessings in your life that you take for granted? Sometimes, living in a country of so much abundance, we forget about all the things many in the world do not have. To our detriment, we’re missing the tremendous power that comes when we acknowledge and water our gratitude seed, making it a part of our daily life. Gratitude opens your heart and allows you to give and receive more understanding and compassion. That energy is vital if we’re going to heal the world.
What do you have in your life that you’re not showing enough, feeling enough gratitude for ( be honest with yourself)?
When we simply take time to acknowledge and appreciate life’s gifts and give thanks for them, we activate opportunities to increase the healthy influence they have on how we feel each day. This effect ripples into how we show up for ourselves, those within our inner circle, and all universal beings.
Think about the beauty of ordinary moments you could appreciate in life. Describe how they might keep you grounded in positivity more.
Firstly, we need to acknowledge all we have to be grateful for each day, the big and the small. Then, we must take it deeper and feel it in our hearts, at a level that counts. I invite you to keep a gratitude journal: list five things you’re grateful for then allow your senses to invite you to experience them. Take some quiet time with those things and let them rest in your heart’s space and see what happens to your emotional state — you’ll feel the positive expansion.
Acknowledging what you’re grateful for will transform your life. If you only do one thing in your life for your wellness this one is it!
In psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. People who practice gratitude generate positive emotions, enjoy good experiences more deeply, have healthier minds and bodies, deal with adversity better, and build healthy relationships. Gratitude strengthens your mind in positive ways, utilizes your heart’s wisdom, and allows you to see the good that is all around you. You will see yourself and others in a more beautiful and authentic light.
We can learn a lot about ourselves through the challenges we face. What is something you are grateful for that is currently challenging you to grow?
In my own path as a seeker and teacher, I cannot say how much having gratitude as a go-to during times of unrest has been my rock on many occasions. Because of this, my wish for you as you put closure to 2023 and ring in 2024 is that you play around to water your seed of gratitude and watch the magic happen in your life and the ripple effect it will create throughout the world this holiday season!
Reflect on experiences that have brought you to this moment in time. Write a thank you letter to your past self.
